The homeowner desired a home version of his native country England’s inviting taverns so their family and friends might experience their cozy, romantic ambiance. This project included a charming wine cellar, tasting room, a fully functioning kitchen, exercise room hidden behind a secret bookshelf door and a doggie spa. To meet the client’s vision for an authentic pub, materials such as slate flooring, wood beams, fieldstone, stair railings and other appointments were ordered from English building suppliers. These materials were purchased and transported by boat from across the pond to the Midwest.

Connie Hampton, CKD

Neal’s Design Remodel’s Certified Kitchen Designer Connie Hampton placed second in the NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association) Kitchen Design Competition. This was the first kitchen design competition for the Southern Ohio/Kentucky chapter. The awards ceremony took place October 21, 2009.

The copperhood and farmhouse sink are the jewels of this kitchen remodel.

The Chrysalis Awards honor the finest remodeling projects in the country. The goal is to identify those companies that produce award-winning work from all over the country in almost every category and price range of remodeling.

The judges are editors and writers of consumer publications such as Better Homes & Gardens, Woman’s Day’s Home Remodeling & Makeovers, Southern Living Magazine and Sunset Magazine. The projects are judged on design, use of materials, use of space and integration into the existing space. What makes these projects so relevant to you is that these judges apply their training to select projects they want the public to see just as they would do in their publications.
